The Circle by Dave Eggers Terry reviewed this book. It can be found on the shelves, or reserved at, Low Fell Library.
When Mae is hired to work for The Circle, the world's most
powerful internet company, she feels she's been given the opportunity of a
lifetime. Mae can't believe her great fortune to work for them. Even as life beyond the campus grows distant, even as a strange encounter with a colleague leaves her shaken, even as her role at The Circle becomes increasingly public...
A modern day version of Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. The integration of society and advancement of technology can only be good for the future of mankind, can't it? The logic is impeccable in this very easy to read book that demonstrates the enormous bounties of the internet and social media, but at the inevitable cost of individual freedom. Without control the future can look scary, very scary. There are some short scenes of a sexual nature.
