Low Fell Library Association and the Dickens Fellowship present

A DICKENSIAN CHRISTMAS

Christmas Stories by Charles Dickens

Wednesday 7th December, 7pm

A pre-Christmas event to get you into a festive mood! You’ll be transported back to the Victorian era as members of the Dickens Fellowship read three Christmas stories by the well-loved author with special lighting effects.

Fairy lights, seasonal decorations, the scent of citrus and spice from the mulled wine and minced pies all add up to a really festive atmosphere. And our production this year has something of a north-east connection.....

  • The Goblins who stole a Sexton

A 1935 adaptation by Gateshead resident Alan Henderson, of the story of goblins kidnapping a grumpy sexton. The story was the basis for Dickens’ A Christmas Carol

  • Boots at the Holly Tree Inn

Dickens read this story, first published in the Christmas edition of the periodical Household Words in 1855, to a Newcastle Town Hall audience in 1858

  • A Christmas Carol

Excerpts from the well-loved Christmas story, adapted by the Fellowship for those in the audience who wish to join in

Booking is essential

Tickets are £5 and include a glass of warming mulled wine and a mince pie. There will also be a bar selling wine and soft drinks.
