Being Your Own Boss - OCR Level 2 Award in Business and Enterprise (May-Aug Course)

Ever wanted to know what was involved in setting up your own business?  Being your own boss?  What is being self-employed all about? 


Our Enterprise course is designed to help people develop a range of skills and understanding around setting up and running their own business and working for themselves.  It also gives you an opportunity to achieve a recognised qualification. 


Topics covered on the course:                               

·        Personal abilities & skills needed to run a business

·        Legal and regulatory requirements for running a business  

·        Different sources of business finance

·        Selling products or services

·        Developing a business plan




How long is the course?

The course lasts for 12 weeks, 10am – 3.00pm and will be held on the following days:

Wednesday 12th July

Wednesday 7th June

Wednesday 19th July

Wednesday 14th June

Wednesday 26th July

Wednesday 21st June

Wednesday 2nd August

Wednesday 28th June

Wednesday 9th August


Lunch and refreshments will be provided on all days.

Where is the course held?


The course will be held at Low Fell Library, Durham Road, Low Fell, Gateshead.


Do I get a qualification?


On successful completion of the course, learners will achieve a recognised qualification, OCR Level 2 Award in Business and Enterprise.


Am I eligible for the course?


The course is free to anyone who is:

·        Currently not working

·        Over the age of 19

·        Resident in Northumberland, Tyne and Wear or County Durham
