Burns Night

Wednesday 27th January

Feasting, music, and poetry!

January celebrates the life of Robert Burns, not just in Scotland but as a Nation and Low Fell Library certainly celebrated in style!

Once again as you entered the Library had been totally transformed, an abundance of tartan (concealing the books) low lighting from strategically placed table lamps and a beautifully decorated table complete with tartan runners, chocolates and traditional shortbread, plus an inexpensive bar! Everything very well planned. What a transformation!

The evening certainly took on an authentic Burns Night, Bagpipes, Haggis, speeches and songs even including The Blaydon Races just to remember our own heritage then culminating in Auld Lang Syne, all very emotional.

An absolutely fantastic evening enjoyed not only by library volunteers but welcomed by so many new faces.
