Set in Southern France, Labyrinth blends the stories of the lives of two women, divided by eight hundred years, but united by a common destiny. In July 2005 Dr Alice Tanner discovers two skeletons in a cave during an archaeological dig. The shattered bones make her uneasy; however she also senses an overpowering sense of evil in the tomb. Mystified by the words she finds carved in the chamber she has the uncomfortable feeling that she has disturbed something which should have remained concealed. On the eve of a brutal civil war eight centuries previously, a young herbalist and healer named Alais was entrusted with a book. Alais does not understand the symbols and diagrams within, however she is aware that her destiny lies in protecting their secret, whatever the cost. Kate Mosse has written a powerful story, permeated by the atmosphere and history of Southern France.
