The Red House by Mark Haddon

I borrowed this book because I loved The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night- time when I read it some years ago. Published in 2012 The Red House is firmly set in today’s world. After the death of their mother, a brother and sister who have been avoiding each other for twenty years take their families for a week’s stay in a house on the Welsh border. During that week we gradually get to know these convincingly drawn characters and as their personalities, fears, memories, secrets, heartaches and vulnerabilities are revealed I became increasingly absorbed in their lives.
