Never Go Back by Lee Child

Never Go Back is the latest Jack Reacher novel. Gill found it a good read, although a little more brutal than some of the others in the series. As every chapter finishes on a cliff hanger Gill found herself having to start the next one straight away!

After an epic and interrupted journey all the way from the snows of South Dakota, former military policeman, Jack Reacher, has finally made it to Virginia. His destination, a short ride from Washington DC, is the headquarters of his old unit, The 110th MP. This is the closest thing to home he has ever had.

The reason for Jack’s visit is that he wants to meet the new commanding officer, Major Susan Turner. He liked the sound of her voice on the phone. However, the officer sitting behind the desk isn’t a woman. Why is Susan not there?

Jack finds that Susan has been arrested and relieved of her command. He certainly doesn’t expect what happens next; he finds himself in big trouble, accused of a sixteen year old homicide. What is more he finds that he didn’t read the fine print when he left the military in 1997. He is now a reservist and ordered back into the Army.

Will he be sorry he went back or will someone else?
